Man's pool stunt dramatically backfires – and lands him with £200,000 hospital bill
There are numerous adjectives we might use to describe this man. We're going to go with 'silly'. Because silly is exactly what this man is.
The man is daredevil YouTuber 8Booth. He attempts breathtaking stunts, which often involve jumping off cliffs or rooftops into swimming pools or seas.
Unfortunately, while he's bravely managed seven successful plunges, his eighth went a little wrong. He survived. Just.
8Booth is recovering in hospital
In his video '8 destroyed me' – a fitting title indeed – the YouTube star showcased why rooftop pool jumps aren't always worth the 700,000 hits (amassed so far).
In the clip, you see 8Booth plummeting towards the pool, only to miss it by a foot or two, landing on the concrete below. He only skips it, thankfully, and does end up in the swimming pool – but not before he's suffered serious damage to his feet and legs.
Here he goes...
Now, 8Booth has been left with a huge hospital bill of $274,000, or around £222,000 in pounds. He's set up a crowdfunding page to try to secure the cash – though he's a long, long way off at the time of writing.
We don't know the exact injuries 8Booth suffered, but we suspect they're not minor.
"I apologize for the graphic photos," he writes on his funding page.
"This happened a few nights ago. I am still in the hospital. Just seeking a little support to keep doing what I'm doing or else I'll be working the rest of my life to pay this off.
"Asking a small favour of you. A donation of any kind would be phenomenal."
