A Texas woman has told of the terrifying moment a man broke into her house in the middle of the night and put his hands over her face and neck, before attempting to sexually assault her.

The home invasion occurred early Saturday morning in Fort Worth and was captured on security cameras both outside and inside the house.

The footage shows the attacker casing out the house and peeking through the window at the woman sleeping, before entering through an unlocked window.

'He just comes out of nowhere,' the woman told KHOU.

The victim said she woke to the man strangling her and covering her face so that she couldn't scream out for help.

She added: ''At first, I was immobile because I thought I was in a dream.'

The woman said she had come home late from work and fallen asleep on the couch watching an Investigation Discovery show called A Stranger In My Place, which can be seen on the television in the security footage.

When the victim realized she was not dreaming, she jumped up off the couch.

'Now, he's about to demand me to take my clothes off,' she said while re-watching the surveillance video.

'That's what he's telling me right now — to take my pants off, and that's what I'm doing. While I'm doing that, I notice the window's open, so I go to jump out the window. He drags me and pulls me back in.'

There is a scuffle, and the woman starts screaming for help. This startles the attacker, and he flees the house.

'I start screaming for help and he takes off running,' the woman said.

The woman was shaken by the incident by not injured. Police are thankful that the cameras were able to get such clear images of the attacker.

'Anybody who's bold enough to go inside someone's residence knowing they're home is someone we're concerned about,' Sgt. Marc Povero told KHOU.

'Somebody like this needs to be taken off the street,' he continued. 'We would recommend people lock their doors and close their windows at night.'

Anyone with any information is urged to call Crimestoppers at (817) 469-TIPS.
